Purgatory in the Bible
25 Descriptive and Clear Bible Passages about Purgatory -- Psalm 66:12 (RSV) "Thou didst let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet thou hast brought us forth to a spacious place." This verse was considered a proof of purgatory by Origen and Saint Ambrose, who posits the water of baptism and the fire of purgatory.
Holy Souls in Purgatory
November is traditionally remembered as the Month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory, and on Friday, November 2, we observe All Souls’ Day. It is important, however, to pray throughout the year for our dearly departed loved ones so they may achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification. In reference to a cleansing fire, for example, we read in the First Letter to the Corinthians 3:15, “If someone’s work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire.”
A Priest with a Missionary Heart
Rev. Feddy Himawan, M.S.F. is a priest of the Missionaries of the Holy Family from the Java Province of Indonesia. He served as pastor of Holy Family Parish in New Braunfels, Texas for over nine years. In June 2018, he returned to his home province in Indonesia. He is greatly missed! It is our hope that he will work with us again in the North American Province sometime in the future. For the Messenger and for World Mission Sunday, he answered some questions about his fascinating life.

Adam's Rib
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner.” 19 So out of the ground, the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.

Beautiful Hands of a Priest
We need them in life's early morning, we need them again at its close; we feel their warm clasp of true friendship, we seek them when tasting life's woes. When we come to this world we are sinful, the greatest as well as the least. The hand that makes us pure as angels is the beautiful hand of a priest.
